I was unable to make home visits while I was on maternity leave, but now I am fully back to work and very busy! Last month I visited 18 households, treated two children with pneumonia, one child with diarrhea and four children with coughs and colds. I weighed 22 children and counseled their mothers about good nutrition. I also assisted a government health worker who came to our village. We went door-to-door searching for children who had not yet received the polio vaccine. I have started serving families in other villages too.

Last week a Ministry of Health coordinator, Santiago Brito Raymundo, visited my community. I assisted as we examined people who came to us with health problems. My neighbor, a young mother named Cristina, brought her 2-month-old son Brayan to see us. She seemed worried and she told us her baby was sick. I took his temperature and counted his breaths and could see right away he had pneumonia. I asked Mr. Santiago to double check. He examined Brayan and asked the mother if she was breastfeeding. Cristina said yes she was.
