To see Anthony today, a bubbly toddler, you would never know that just a few months ago he was fighting for his life. With care and medicines from a Save the Children-trained health worker, Anthony won his battle against deadly malaria. But his war is not over – his main enemy, chronic malnutrition.

When I started working as a community health volunteer in 2006, I already had a daughter named Anika who was about a year old. Now I am very happy to report I am also the mother of a son! I was blessed with a son on January 6, 2012. His name is Taha and he was born weighing 2.7 kilograms (about 6 pounds). Thank goodness, it was a safe delivery. Many of the mothers from the community have congratulated me.
