Primary Care

It was a busy week. We had a two-day refresher meeting which I like because we get a chance to review all the issues we previously learned so we don’t forget. We also have the chance to ask any questions we might face in the field. This month’s refresher training was on managing childhood diseases. Now, we will be able to treat pneumonia and diarrhea at the household level and refer cases with severe disease to the hospital. It feels good that we are now able to give primary treatment for these illnesses! I also invited people to National Immunization Day which was held this week. I helped the government health workers in vaccinating babies for polio. In addition, I held one courtyard session with the mothers of 0-6 month-old babies and talked about the importance of breast milk, nutritional needs for new mothers, etc.
